Buying and fitting your brand new crate engine
A correct engine match depends on more than vehicle make, model and engine size. Before ordering, send us the registration, VIN and the code shown on the original engine. We compare those details with the available unit so you and your fitting garage can confirm the application before installation. Where a listing covers several vehicles or output versions, this check is especially important because ancillary equipment and calibration can differ.
What brand new means
This is a zero-hours crate engine built to original manufacturer specification. It is not a used, rebuilt or reconditioned unit. Review the listing carefully to see whether the engine is supplied as a bare engine, long block or timed assembly and which components are included. Existing injectors, turbocharger, wiring, sensors, manifolds and other ancillaries may need to be transferred or replaced according to the specific application.
Prepare for installation
Installation should be completed by a VAT-registered garage or suitably qualified technician. The cause of the previous failure must be identified before the replacement engine is fitted. The cooling system, oil cooler, turbocharger oil feed and return, intercooler, fuel system, injectors, EGR circuit and intake should be inspected, cleaned or replaced where required. Contamination or a failed ancillary carried over from the old engine can damage a new unit immediately.
First fill and commissioning
Use the vehicle manufacturer’s specified oil, a new quality filter and the correct coolant. Prime the lubrication system before first start, confirm oil pressure and coolant circulation, and check for leaks before the vehicle is driven. Retain the fitting invoice, receipts for fluids and parts, diagnostic records and the engine number. These records support future servicing and are required if a warranty claim needs to be assessed.
Delivery, exchange and warranty
UK mainland delivery is £85 by tail-lift vehicle and pallet truck. Inspect the pallet before signing and reject delivery if the engine or packaging shows visible impact damage. Engines are sold on an exchange basis with a refundable £350 surcharge. Return the old engine complete, drained and secured to the original pallet within 30 days, or email us to arrange collection for £85. The supplied engine includes a 12 month unlimited mileage warranty, subject to the published fitting, servicing and claim requirements.
