Common DW10 failures
- Timing belt or chain failure causing valve-to-piston contact
- Injector seal leaks and carbon build-up in the injector bores
- Turbo oil feed pipe blockage leading to turbo failure
- Excessive oil consumption and blue smoke from worn bores
- Coolant loss into the oil from head gasket failure
Buying and fitting advice
- Confirm the exact suffix (DW10C, DW10F, DW10FD etc.) — injection and emissions hardware differ between variants.
- Supplied on exchange with a £350 refundable surcharge once your old unit is returned.
- Replace the turbo oil feed pipe, filters and belt kit during fitting.
- Have the DPF and EGR condition checked — a blocked aftertreatment system will shorten the life of a new engine.
