DV5 engine guide
DV5 engine: brand new PSA 1.5 BlueHDi crate engines
The DV5 engine is the PSA (Stellantis) 1.5 litre BlueHDi four-cylinder diesel that replaced the DV6 across Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Vauxhall/Opel and Ford Fiesta/Focus applications. We supply the DV5 as a brand new, zero-hours crate engine built to original manufacturer specification — never reconditioned, never used.

Common DV5 failures
- Timing belt failure — the DV5 uses a wet belt in oil that degrades and sheds material into the sump
- Oil pump pickup blockage from wet-belt debris, leading to oil starvation and bearing failure
- Knocking or rumbling from the bottom end under load
- Low or fluctuating oil pressure warning
- Turbo failure following oil contamination
Buying and fitting advice
- Check the code stamped on the block or in the V5C — DV5 units are not interchangeable with DV6.
- Engines are supplied on an exchange basis: a £350 surcharge applies and is refunded once your old engine is returned.
- UK mainland pallet delivery is a flat £85 with tail-lift kerbside offload.
- Fit a new oil pump, belt kit and filters at the same time — reusing wet-belt-contaminated ancillaries is the most common cause of a repeat failure.
